Hey team,
The latest Republican ploy has governors in states like Iowa, Arkansas, and South Dakota deploying the National Guard to the southern border -- even though they are hundreds of miles from it.
Historically, the Federal government makes the decision on deploying the National Guard, but individual state governors are taking it into their own hands. And they're either burdening their taxpayers with this stunt or collecting checks from conservative billionaires to pay for the deployment.
Team -- this is unacceptable. Republican governors are using fear tactics, unnecessarily wasting taxpayer money, and even letting mega-donors dictate national security policies.
The truth is, GOP governors aren't doing this to enhance national security. They are acting on Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric to win votes in the upcoming election.
It's theatrical and wasteful. So, team, we're going to put an end to it. State National Guard members report to their governors, but the US President can intervene with the final say on the National Guard's actions. Help us tell the Biden administration to put a stop to the unnecessary deployment of the National Guard on the border.
