Climate change, if left unaddressed, will have a devastating impact on virtually every aspect of our lives: not only our environment but also our economy, national security, property values, tourism, and beyond.

Extreme weather and rising sea levels brought on by climate change would hit Maryland particularly hard. Our environment and natural resources are essential to our economy and our way of life.

Even in recent weeks, heat waves have devastated marine life, killing an estimated 1 billion sea creatures -- the actual number could be even higher. And droughts and other extreme weather events are worsening polluted runoff, washing pollution into the Chesapeake Bay to the point that climate scientists say it will be extremely difficult to restore the Bay to what it once was.

A crisis of this magnitude demands big solutions. That’s why I’ve co-sponsored the Green New Deal since it was first introduced in 2019.

There’s no doubt that it’s going to be challenging to address a crisis this big -- that’s why it will take all of us. If you support the Green New Deal and taking bold climate action as a country, please add your name to mine today. [[link removed]]
