John,
FIRST: Just as our campaign for Congress was gaining progressive momentum last summer, the establishment scrambled and went on the defensive. They spent millions of dollars on ad buys from dark money groups and got establishment Democrats like Hillary Clinton to endorse against Jamaal in the race.
THEN: As establishment Democrats did everything they could to halt our grassroots momentum in its tracks, our movement mobilized, responded, and came through stronger than ever. Just take a look at this screenshot from our ActBlue, taken moments after Hillary Clinton endorsed against Jamaal.
NOW: Even a year later, establishment Democrats are attempting to blunt our progressive movement. They're still deploying the same, tired strategy — dark money funding, endorsements from out-of-touch politicians like Hillary Clinton — but this time, on progressive Nina Turner's campaign for Congress in Ohio's 11th District.
It's disappointing to see, John. But the good news is that we've seen and defeated this playbook before — and we know that as long as we can respond to the wave of attacks from the establishment with a wave of grassroots support, we'll be in good shape.
Our progressive movement prevailed last year to send Jamaal to Congress to fight for our values. We banded together to organize and mobilize voters in New York's 16th District to vote Jamaal into Congress.
We're holding onto a slim majority in Congress, and we need to elect as many progressives to the House now. We can — and must — send Nina to Congress, but we need all hands on deck to make it happen...especially since we're going up against nearly $1 million in dark money.
In solidarity,
Team Bowman
