Humanewashing is a collection of widespread marketing tactics designed to deceive us into believing that meat, egg and dairy manufacturers actually care about the welfare of farmed animals.
Humanewashing promotes the illusion of farmed animal well-being while hiding the extent of farmed animals’ illness, horrific suffering and very early deaths. You can see humanewashing in a variety of places: advertisements, labels, packaging, social media content and seemingly trustworthy certifications.
They trick consumers into believing that animals are frolicking in green pastures, when in reality, they are languishing inside factory farms.
These labels still allow for cruel practices and animal suffering like: long-term confinement, little to no hygiene, little to no medical care, intensive breeding, no outdoor access, electric prods, cutting or burning off horns and skin with no pain relief, and taking newborn calves away from their mothers.
As a non-profit organization, Animal Outlook relies on donations from caring, generous people like you. Every dollar matters. Your support makes a world of difference to farmed animals.
