This month has served as a reminder that the climate crisis is not an abstract problem to be dealt with in the future, but a problem that threatens millions of lives at this very moment.

Between record deadly heat waves in the Pacific Northwest, massive hurricanes hitting the Gulf Coast, and a literal fire burning in the ocean because of an oil drilling rupture, we are seeing the consequences of our inaction.

We know that doing too little or doing nothing at all will bear a disastrous future for our children. One of raging wildfires in the West, massive hurricanes in the South, and sea levels encroaching on our homes right here in Maryland’s First District.
