John,
Elaine recently wrote a letter from all of her fellow women veterans in Congress to demand the Secretary of Defense save the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS).
DACOWITS functions as an advocacy organization for women in the armed forces. Women are in the minority of U.S. service members, and face unique difficulties when it comes to recruitment, retention rates, gender discrimination, and transitioning home after their service concludes. DACOWITS was created in order to provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Defense on the distinct challenges that women face.
But DACOWITS is under threat -- Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has disbanded the committee pending a review. Add your name to tell Secretary Austin to preserve DACOWITS today!
Elaine joined the Navy at 17 years old -- just 17 years after they began allowing women to serve.
Elaine served for 2 decades, and knows firsthand the difficulties faced by women in the armed forces. She wants women in the services today to have the same opportunities and support that she had -- that’s why she’s asking you to show your support for DACOWITS today.
Tell Secretary Austin that you stand with Elaine in calling for the full reinstatement of DACOWITS -- add your name!
-- Team Elaine
