John,
Last weekend, I had the incredible honor to join the LGBTQ+ community and allies at the Big Sky Pride Parade in Helena — and it was a day filled with love, light, and joy.
I had the chance to speak about my experience fighting for LGBTQ+ rights in the Montana House of Representatives, and the need to take this fight to Washington, D.C. Watch my speech here.
As a member of the Judiciary Committee and leadership, I’ve had a front-row seat to the hateful attacks that came out of this Republican-controlled legislature.
But through it all, the LGBTQ+ community and its advocates brought their strength, resilience, and voices to the legislature, showing up day after day to share their stories.
It’s time to show D.C. our energy, strength and resiliency and come together to pass the federal Equality Act to ensure all Montanans have the freedom to be who they are and love who they love — no matter what.
Right now, the Equality Act — which would finally prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, education, and more — has already passed the U.S. House. But ever since, it’s been sitting at the door of the U.S. Senate.
We need to raise our voices until the Senate passes it. And if they don’t get it done, I will.
As your next representative, I will go to D.C. and take this community’s strength, beauty, and joy all the way, and I will not stop fighting until your rights are written into law.
Help me get there and keep up the fight for LGBTQ+ Montanans by making a grassroots donation to our campaign today.
