When the Obama administration unveiled DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program), via executive order they set in place a revolutionary plan to protect undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.
Sadly, late last week, a federal judge ruled that DACA is unconstitutional, putting Dreamers’ lives that have already been in legal limbo for years, in jeopardy yet again.
Enough.
While the courts overturned the executive order that established DACA, Congress can fix it by making it law.
We need to establish permanent protections for hundreds of thousands of Dreamers NOW.
They are our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and colleagues, and we must continue to protect them.
They can’t keep waiting in fear.
The House already passed the DREAM Act’s most recent version, H.R.6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2021 in March, now it's time for the Senate to do the same!
Join DFA as we ramp up public pressure on the Senate and demand they finally protect Dreamers before it’s too late.
More than 800,000 immigrants who were brought to the United States by their parents as children benefit from DACA, which has massive public support.
DACA gives people the chance to live, work, and study in the country they call home, without fear of deportation.
We knew that it was only a matter of time until Republicans were successful at overturning DACA in the courts.
It doesn't have to be this way.
Senate Democrats need to fight back against this attack on DACA and clearly respond with action. With the lives of hundreds of thousands on the line, pithy tweets and press releases filled with platitudes and concern are not enough.
We cannot just stand by quietly while the courts and the Republican Party tear apart our families, target our friends, and destroy our communities.
Right now, Senate Democrats have the levers of power at their disposal. Stand with DFA as we demand that they use it to protect Dreamers now.
Progress is made by standing up and fighting for it. Together, we’ll fight back against anti-immigrant policies and protect Dreamers.
