I get it — 2021 is supposed to be the “off year.”

But up here in Virginia, our election for governor is this November, just a few months away. And I’ll be honest: Democrats are up against a massive challenge. The Republican big-money machine is lining up to get behind my Trump-endorsed opponent, Glenn Youngkin.

My opponent has pledged to use his fortune to buy this race if necessary — he’s planning to spend $75 million to flip our state red and officially make Virginia “Trump country.” But here’s the worst part: He’s already spending $2 million of his own money to put ads up on radio and TV.

We’re truly up against an unprecedented sum of money. Look, in Virginia’s last gubernatorial election, the Republican and Democratic nominees spent $66 million combined.
