Have you heard about the Texas Heroes, John? 

Texas politicians have spent months trying to jam a radical anti-voter
bill through the state legislature, and the only thing stopping them is a
group of heroic lawmakers who fled the state so the legislature couldn’t
hold a vote on this unAmerican anti-voter bill.  

It’s incredibly inspiring. With less than four weeks until a crucial
deadline to pass the For the People Act, we’re taking a page out of their
playbook — doing everything we can to save democracy before it’s too late.

That means massive collective action — a national web of events to demand
Senators pass the For the People Act. But if we don’t raise $50,000 by
August 16th, we may have to cut back on our events and lose the momentum

August 16th is not some arbitrary deadline, John. It’s the last
date the Senate can pass the For the People Act before states across
America begin gerrymandering their voting maps for the next ten years. 

50% of Americans are at risk of living in rigged districts for the next
decade. That would mean another generation of uncompetitive elections and
politicians being able to do whatever they want because their reelection
is virtually guaranteed.

We all need to be inspired by the Texas Heroes and do whatever it takes to
stop this existential threat to our democracy.

It’s time we follow their lead and kick it up a notch. More than 100
volunteers have expressed interest in holding a local event as part of our
