John —
We’ve been emailing our senators all week to support $400 billion for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and we’re hearing good things. In fact, the day after our Care Can’t Wait Day of Action, Senate Democrats announced a $3.5 trillion budget which includes investments in care infrastructure.
We’re close to winning this, but we can’t let up. Will you make a quick call to your senators urging them to support HCBS?
All you need to do is dial (877) 689-2371 to be connected to your senators — it’s that easy!
When you call, you’ll hear a short message from our partners SEIU, welcoming you to their Care Is Essential Action line. Then, you’ll be able to enter your ZIP code to be connected to your senators.
We know that Senate offices track emails and calls, so the more calls we make the better! Here is a script you can use when you make your call:
My name is [your full name], and I am from [city]. I’m calling to ask Senator [Name] to make sure that the Better Care Better Jobs Act becomes law, and is included in the upcoming budget reconciliation. This bill would provide a critical investment in home-and community-based services for people with disabilities and aging adults as well as the workforce that provides those supports. Many people with disabilities and aging adults rely on home- and community-based services to do things like get dressed, take care of our families, work, and participate in our communities. Today, too many people are stuck on waiting lists, relying on unpaid caregivers, or forced to live in institutions. We need a big investment to make this system work for everyone who needs it. The $400 billion investment in Medicaid proposed in the Better Care Better Jobs Act is long overdue. Can I count on the Senator’s support?
The Senate is currently debating how to allocate the money in their budget, so this is the most important time to call. Will you make your call today?
Call (877) 689-2371 to be connected to your senators!
With care,
