Dear John,
The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), in partnership with Emgage Action, has developed a joint report for members of Congress, law enforcement agencies, and members of the American Muslim community, entitled The Double Standards of U.S. FTO vs. DTO Prosecution. This report seeks to address the double standards of terrorism prosecution and provides recommendations on how to effectively counter the threat of white supremacy.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 20th on Capitol Hill, MPAC will convene an Eid prayer at 10 AM ET, followed by a joint press conference with Emgage Action at 1 PM ET. We will gather members of Congress, experts, prominent stakeholders, and community leaders to present this package and answer questions.
This event will be streamed live via zoom and Facebook Live ([link removed]) .

This package serves as a guide for members of the federal government and other key stakeholders to:
1. Better understand the proposed legislation on domestic terrorism (DT).
2. Recognize the impact of terrorism statutes on and the uneven application of law enforcement tools against American Muslims and communities of color.
3. Review the double standards in the application of existing statutes defining domestic terrorism and federal terrorism charges on past cases involving white supremacists versus American Muslims.
4. Shift federal and law enforcement resources to counter the real threat of domestic terrorism — white supremacy — by utilizing empirical data, and strategize how existing legal codes can be used to prosecute white supremacist terrorism, while making a case against expanded DT charges.
It is important to note that this press conference is taking place on Eid al-Adha, the largest holiday for Muslims, signifying the time for the pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj). We invite everyone to join us on this date to remember the important lessons of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice.
It's time to end the double standard on classifying terrorism cases that stigmatize communities and erodes trust with law enforcement. We hope you can join us for this momentous occasion.
