Indivisibles,
It’s been a big day here at Indivisible H.Q.:
* First: We watched the powerful Senate Rules Committee Field Hearing on
S. 1 in Atlanta, GA, and [ [link removed] ]celebrated as a letter from GA Indivisible
groups was entered into the official Senate record. We want to send a
big “thank you” to the Senate Dems who fought hard to make this
hearing a success and showed us all just how necessary S.1 is.
* At the same time: we were also glued to coverage of the Poor People’s
Campaign’s Women's #MoralMonday March on Washington. During the march,
our co-founder [ [link removed] ]Leah was arrested when she joined hundreds of other
women leaders to demand the Senate abolish the filibuster to pass
voting rights and the $15 minimum wage.
With a start like that to the week, we’re ready to get a lot more done in
the next seven days. So here are this week’s to-dos:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your Weekly To-Dos
1. [ [link removed] ]Make a call on S.1, get a sticker. We know we sound like a broken
record, but making calls to your Senators about abolishing the
filibuster and passing S. 1, the For the People Act, is mission
critical right now. This month, if you make a call using our form,
we’ll send you a 🚫No Filibuster 🚫 sticker to thank you for lending
your voice. (Don’t forget to hit “I’m done!” in the red bar at the
bottom of the page to claim your sticker after you call.)
2. [ [link removed] ]Attend the next Moral Monday event with the Poor People’s Campaign.
The event Leah joined this week was one in a series of events each
Monday in July. Next week, they’re planning events at Senate offices
all over the country -- check out their website for more info.
Important note: These are civil disobedience events, which means
there’s a chance of arrest. If you’re going, make sure you attend
their training in advance.
3. [ [link removed] ]Make a call about the Recovery package. The Senate released their
draft budget resolution last week, and we’re glad it includes many of
our top priorities. But the $3.5 trillion offered by the Senate is the
floor, not the ceiling, and House Democrats must use the power of
their majority to augment this proposal to truly meet the scale of the
current crises. Read the resource about the recovery package, then
pick your top issue and make a call.
P.S. If you like these resources, including this newsletter, [ [link removed] ]please
consider chipping in $5 or so to fund our work. Grassroots donations allow
us to do all this work and more, and we truly can’t do it without you.
