Waterkeeper Alliance, Puget Soundkeeper, and partners successful in their challenge of a Statewide Agricultural Permit

As record-setting heat threatened the sustainability of Washington’s water resources, a three-judge panel of the Washington Court of Appeals unanimously invalidated the Washington State Department of Ecology’s waste discharge permits for concentrated animal feeding operations, finding the permits violated state and federal law by failing to control the discharge of excess nutrients, bacteria, and other pollutants.

Who Is Waterkeeper highlights the grassroots advocates of the Waterkeeper movement who fight for their watersheds and communities with unwavering commitment.

John Forrester has been the Werribee Riverkeeper in Australia since 2014. His love of the river, however, goes back much further than that. Forrester has been involved with the cause since he moved to the area around 40 years ago with his family. They would take part in cleanups, habitat restoration, even some bush walks. Eventually he decided to do even more.
