Dear John,
Tucker Carlson has embraced white supremacist conspiracy theories, warned that “critical race theory” will lead to “white genocide,” and accused the Biden administration of spying on his emails.
He said the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was a false-flag operation organized by the FBI, pushed the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and falsely claimed in May that there’s been “a massive increase in deaths” from the COVID-19 vaccine.
But what makes Tucker Carlson dangerous isn’t just what he says. It’s that he has the #1 rated show on cable news.
Earlier this year, the team at Inequality Media launched one of the biggest, most strategically important projects in our history, to grow our social media following and use scientific, A/B-message testing to inoculate the public against right-wing disinformation, and it’s working.
But despite this incredible progress, our latest data shows that we're trailing Tucker Carlson by nearly 1 million followers on Facebook, and we are trailing him on Instagram engagement as well.
To fight back against Tucker Carlson’s lies, we must catch up and surpass his following on social media. Will you make a donation to help support our efforts? [[link removed]]
It’s not just the far-right base that’s listening to Tucker Carlson.
A recent Capitol Hill survey found that 87% of congressional staffers named Tucker Carlson “the most influential Republican voice” in the country.
That’s terrifying.
Here’s the good news: Our strategy to test and deploy the most effective, message-tested content to inoculate the public against right-wing disinformation is working—and we know if we continue to ramp up, we can help counteract Tucker’s lies. W e’re already getting more engagement on social media than Fox News, Ben Shapiro, and Sean Hannity.
Our best-performing videos are being watched to completion nearly nine times more frequently than the benchmark rates we were told to expect. We have an unusually large following among conservatives, and they are engaging with our content even more than progressives.
But while we’ve caught and surpassed most right-wing propagandists online, we still have work to do to catch the biggest, most dangerous of them all: Tucker Carlson. That’s why we’re asking for your help—because we know what we need to do next.
Will you make a donation and help us spread the truth? Together, we can fight back against Tucker Carlson’s white supremacist lies and anti-vaccine disinformation. [[link removed]]
