An Important Conversation Hello John, Please join us next Monday, July 26, for a virtual conversation titled, "Racial Disparities in Individuals with Co-occurring Serious Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders." We will be joined by George Washington University Professor Jameta Nicole Barlow and our DJ Jaffe Advocate Sabah Muhammad about our recently published one-pager on co-occurring serious mental illness and substance use disorders. This conversation will be moderated by our Director of Research Elizabeth Sinclair Hancq. In the United States, one in four people with severe mental illness also struggle with a substance use disorder. Marginalized populations, such as racial and ethnic minorities, are disproportionately impacted by the negative effects of co-occurring disorders, while these same populations tend to have the least access to care. In this conversation, we will discuss the research on the intersection of serious mental illness, substance use disorders and race, including how and why marginalized populations are disproportionately impacted. Don’t miss this important gathering. Join us! Register here. Best, Treatment Advocacy Center Thank you for your continued support of the Treatment Advocacy Center.
