Nancy Pelosi has set the date: On July 27, the House select committee will hold its first hearing on the January 6 insurrection.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is following Senate GOP boss Mitch McConnell's obstructionist cues on this. McConnell invoked the first legislative filibuster of the Biden era to kill a bill that would have established an independent commission on the riot. And now, despite Pelosi giving him a fair chance to appoint House Republicans to the committee, McCarthy has yet to name his roster.
Enough stalling. Now that McCarthy has a hard deadline, Nancy Pelosi has the GOP by the collar.
