Say what you will about Elon (and we have said plenty), at least he has actually shipped vehicles. Maybe if Rivian's EVs flew to to space, they might get one off the production line.
 

CNBC (7/16/21) reports: "Rivian, the Amazon-backed electric vehicle maker, has delayed deliveries of its long-awaited R1T pickup until September, and the R1S SUV until later in the fall, the company told CNBC. However, these delays for retail customers have not impacted the start-up’s plans to provide electric delivery vans to its partner and investor Amazon. Spokespeople for both companies confirmed that Rivian still plans to start production of the vans beginning this year, and with a goal of putting 10,000 vehicles on the road as early as 2022. Amazon agreed in September 2019 to purchase 100,000 electric vehicles from the start-up as part of its ambitious push to make Amazon’s fleet run entirely on renewable energy. The company hopes to test electric delivery vans in 16 cities by the end of 2021. A Rivian spokesperson told CNBC that the company previously planned to start deliveries of the R1T in July and R1S in August. A letter sent Friday to customers by CEO RJ Scaringe and obtained by CNBC blamed the effects of the Covid pandemic for the delays."

Wall Street Journal (7/17/21) reports: "Gas-fired stoves are emerging as a burning issue as American cities consider phasing out natural-gas hookups to homes and businesses to reduce carbon emissions. Many restaurant and home chefs prefer cooking on gas-burning ranges, and persuading some to switch to electric stovetops is proving to be a hard sell—a sentiment the natural-gas industry has seized on to rally opposition to new local ordinances. Several cities, including San Francisco and Seattle, have given ground on the issue by exempting stoves from natural-gas bans, or providing pathways for restaurants to secure waivers in an attempt to minimize blowback. The pushback on stoves demonstrates one of the challenges of reducing the emissions linked to climate change: Consumers may have to make personal sacrifices by giving up things they use and enjoy in favor of less familiar technologies. George Chen, executive chef and founder of San Francisco restaurant China Live, said he was concerned about cities restricting a cooking technique that contributes to the texture and flavor of good Chinese cuisine that he said can’t be achieved on an electric stove. 'I have respect for the environment, and I drive an electric car and am happy to pay the extra costs because the technology is good,' Mr. Chen said. 'But to say that an electric stove is as good as a gas one is misunderstanding the art of cooking.'"

How to get your pipeline approved under the Biden regime...


New York Post (7/16/21) reports: "President Biden’s adviser Susan Rice is being ordered to sell a $2.7 million stake in the oil pipeline company Enbridge — after the Biden administration decided to allow the firm’s Line 3 pipeline project. The Office of Government Ethics ordered Rice to divest from the company on July 9, according to filings first reported by The Daily Poster. Although Biden has broadly taken action against oil pipelines, most notably canceling the Keystone XL oil pipeline, his administration has continued to allow the Line 3 project, which would bring Canadian oil through Minnesota to Wisconsin. Environmental activists oppose the Line 3 project, but the cause has received far less national attention than other pipelines. Last month, Biden administration officials indicated they would not withdraw permission for Line 3 in a major boon for the company."

Fox News (7/19/21) reports: "The New York Times columnist Ezra Klein published a piece that appeared to condone eco-terrorism to stop climate change. On Thursday, Klein published a 2000-word article titled "It Seems Odd That We Would Just Let the World Burn." The opinion piece dissected Andreas Malm’s book titled 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline,' a book that supported and ultimately reasoned the need for violence in climate change activism. Despite the provocative nature of the book, Klein appeared to understand and even sympathize with the author.  'Andreas Malm’s "How to Blow Up a Pipeline" is only slightly inaptly named. You won’t find, anywhere inside, instructions on sabotaging energy infrastructure. A truer title would be "Why to Blow Up a Pipeline." On this, Malm’s case is straightforward: Because nothing else has worked,' Klein wrote. The former Vox reporter went on to transcribe passages of the book which continued to endorse vandalism and threats as a solution to greenhouse gases."
