Friend –
Opponents of civil liberties are taking to the state legislatures to advance hundreds of increasingly unconstitutional, undemocratic, and downright dangerous legislation – and we need ACLU supporters like you in the fight to push back.
That's why I'm reaching out to urge you to rush a generous gift today, to ensure that our attorneys and advocates have the resources they need to protect people's rights across the country in this urgent moment.

900+ bills attacking trans rights, voting rights, abortion access, the right to protest, and more

Litigation, advocacy, and organizing across all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico – and federally

Right now, lawmakers are bombarding their states with bills designed to ban transgender youth from sports and gender-affirming health care, restrict access to abortion, constrain our right to protest, and block our right to vote.
Since the start of the year, state legislatures have:
- Introduced more than 100 bills to restrict trans rights, with a particular focus on blocking trans youth from sports and gender-affirming care.
- Pushed more than 400 new restrictive voting laws, many of which disproportionately make it harder for people of color to have access to the ballot.
- Introduced more than 550 abortion restrictions across the states, including 165 abortion bans.
- And, in response to the wave of protests against police brutality and systemic inequality, put forward more than 90 anti-protest bills that threaten to weaken the rights enshrined in the First Amendment.
But the ACLU is fighting back against these state assaults with everything we have, lodging lawsuit after lawsuit, advocating fervently in legislatures, and organizing in communities across all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
We're determined to prove once again that we have the range, strength, and expertise to turn back attacks on our civil liberties, wherever and whenever they arise – but we can't do it without your support, ACLU Supporter.
So please, rush as generous a gift as you can to the ACLU today and let us know that you're with us in the fight to stop the onslaught of civil liberties attacks in the states.
Thanks for all you do,
Anthony D. Romero
