[[link removed]]Dear John,

This is it – on Friday we’re taking the Prime Minister to court.

The law is clear: if MPs haven’t approved a new Brexit deal by Saturday 19
October, the UK Government must ask the European Union for an extension.

But the Prime Minister has continually signalled his intention to ignore his
obligations. His lawyers say he will comply with the Act of Parliament, but that
he can also take action to frustrate it.

We warned Boris Johnson time and again that we would see him in court if he
didn’t confirm the Government would obey the law. Liberty members and supporters
have already donated more than £16,500 towards our legal challenge

Now on Friday 18 October, the Court of Appeal will decide whether our case can
go ahead and, if so, will hear it there and then.

This case shouldn’t be necessary. It brings us no joy. And it has nothing to do
with Brexit. Put simply, the Government must always act lawfully.

It’s never been more important for us to stand up to power and protect our
constitutional order from this dangerous power grab.

We will of course keep you updated, and should you wish to contribute towards
our case and help us reach £20,000, you can do so here

Thank you for your continued support in such extraordinary times.

Martha Spurrier
Director
