Chris CoonsJoin us.

Dear John,

Manufacturing has always represented so much of the American story: hard-working people building a path forward for this country, together.

While our culture of innovation and persistence remain strong, the United States faces stiff competition abroad. America's factories just suffered their worst month in a decade as a result of Trump's reckless trade war.

In this rapidly changing economy, it's more important than ever that we build on our country's proud manufacturing legacy and make critical investments in our workforce. Add your name next to mine to support revitalizing our manufacturing sector.

Every time I take the Amtrak train from Wilmington to Washington, D.C., I pass the former Chrysler plant in Newark. The loss of the plant hit Delaware hard. But because folks invested in new plants and new technologies, the site is now home to a Manufacturing USA institute, where researchers are working to develop new manufacturing techniques for innovative biopharmaceutical products.

To build on the success we've already seen with the program, I introduced the Global Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing Act. This bipartisan bill expands the national network of Manufacturing USA institutes that are working to keep the U.S. on the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing.

We know that small manufacturers are the core of America's manufacturing economy, but these companies often struggle with access to capital and sufficient investment. Earlier this year, I introduced the SIGMA Act to support manufacturing start-ups and increase access to key federal programs for smaller manufacturers.

The story of American manufacturing is far from over, and I know there are ways Washington can help innovative manufacturers compete in our global economy. Will you join me in supporting the revitalization of our manufacturing sector?

Thank you,

Chris
