We are delighted to announce the AHC Board has appointed Susan Cunningham as our interim CEO.
Susan will take the helm immediately, providing leadership, stability, and oversight during our national search for a permanent CEO.
As a seasoned executive and community leader, Susan brings just the right experience for this moment.
She is a proven change manager and community builder, with more than 25 years of experience leading mission-driven organizations through challenges and change, while building strong community engagement and trust. Her experience includes working with McKinsey & Company, the IRS, and SEED Foundation.
Susan brings both a longstanding commitment to affordable housing and multi-sector experience designing, constructing, and operating buildings. True to AHC’s mission, Cunningham has long championed sustainable design and operation of affordable housing across the DC Metropolitan Area.
A long-time Arlington County resident herself, Susan is deeply familiar with Arlington and the broader region. She serves on Arlington's Joint Facilities Advisory Committee, the Lee Highway Alliance, and is a member of the NAACP Arlington Branch. Regionally she has worked closely with VPP + Raise DC, the Maya Angelou School in Washington, DC, ChildTrends in Montgomery County, and the SEED School in Baltimore.
Susan's charge is to work hand-in-hand with the AHC Board and staff to lead the organization through this time of transition. She will bring an independent lens to assess our internal culture and processes and focus on delivering consistently high-quality service to our residents, most urgently at The Serrano.
We are proud of AHC's mission and track record. As we build the new AHC leadership team, we are doubling down on building trust with our residents and the communities we serve.
We appreciate your support and continued engagement as we start AHC's next chapter!
