John,

18-year-old Israel Glenn started the petition because he didn’t want other children to experience the burdens of hunger, homelessness, and instability that he did. A petition signer named Seon from Missouri added his name because “it is long past time for these questions to be asked and answered.” More than 30,000 people have joined him.

What’s your reason for calling for a child poverty question in an upcoming presidential debate?

- Christina, Minnesota

- Kristin, Pennsylvania

- Laurel, Kentucky

Tonight, 12 Democratic candidates for president will meet again on the debate stage, and we’ll once again be watching for the question that hasn’t been asked in 20 years: how each candidate will address our national child poverty crisis.

Several of the candidates have already spoken out, calling for a chance to share their plans to end child poverty with American voters. Add your name if you believe our children deserve to hear them.

Thank you for standing up for children in poverty.

Gratefully,

Emily Gardner

P.S. If you've already added your name to Israel's petition—thank you! Poor children should not be ignored; encourage others to take action. Will you please take a moment to share on social media or send to a friend?
