Helping our city get ready to confront the climate crisis will be a top priority for me as Comptroller.

Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller

John,

Catastrophic floods in Germany. Power lines downed by wildfires in California. Record high temperatures threatening crops and farm workers in Oregon.

The last few weeks we have seen alarming headlines. One thing is very clear: the climate crisis isn’t something happening in the future, it’s already here.

We’ve already seen that NYC’s infrastructure is not ready to withstand the scale of storms like the ones we’ve seen here and around the world.

And just like so many other crises, the impacts of climate change hit frontline communities of color hardest. It's the neighborhoods that have been segregated, redlined, and disinvested for years that are facing the brunt of flooded streets, electricity blackouts, and extreme heat indexes.

Helping our city get ready to confront the climate crisis will be a top priority for me as Comptroller. Can we count on you to help me win in November? Donations from New Yorkers are eligible to be matched 8:1 up to $250.

The Comptroller's office has key tools to help our city get ready and to build pressure on global financial institutions to take the climate crisis as seriously as it deserves. We have a lot of work to do.

Thank you for being part of it,

Brad
