In 2020, labor unions pushed ballot measures seeking to codify racial essentialism and preferences, impose left-wing "bail reform," reverse expanded gun rights, legalize marijuana, and expand mandatory "comprehensive sex education." This emphasis on cultural hobbyhorses of the Left lies far outside labor's supposed "economic core." Big Labor has been in decline since the 1950s, when it commanded the loyalty and commandeered the dues of about one-third of the U.S. workforce. Today, only 11 percent of the workforce is unionized. Apple, Amazon, and Google decided within a single weekend to eliminate Parler, a competing social media platform. Yet this should not have been a surprise; Big Tech censorship has been building for years.
