Hello!
The Metro D.C. DSA chapter recently voted to endorse a campaign to renew and strengthen the city's rent control laws in coalition with labor unions, nonprofits, legal advocates, tenants, and community organizations. Rent control has functioned as one of the most important legal protections against gentrification and displacement across the District as well as a critical tool to preserve affordable housing.
The rent control working group has an exciting month ahead, and we need your support! We hope to see you at one or all of the following events and actions during our rent control week of action:

- Community Canvass for Rent Control
October 19, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Adams Morgan
Join D.C. Jobs with Justice for an afternoon of outreach and canvassing in the Adams Morgan neighborhood to drive turnout for the October 26 Reclaim Rent Control rally.

- Rent Control Working Group Happy Hour
October 19, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Lyman's Tavern
Socialize over drinks and learn about how Metro D.C. DSA is fighting to expand rent control laws from members of the rent control working group and organizers from the Stomp Out Slumlords campaign.

- Art BuildĀ for Rent Control
October 22, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church
Come make posters and props for the upcoming Reclaim Rent Control rally on October 26. The chapter will provide poster board and other materials, so bring your artistic friends and most clever rent control slogans!

Learn more about the past, present, and future of rent control atĀ a panel discussion featuring tenants, organizers, and policy experts.

- Rally to Reclaim Rent Control
October 26, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Lamont Park
Join Metro D.C. DSA and other coalition partners for the official launch of the Reclaim Rent Control campaign with a rally at Lamont Park in Mount Pleasant! Please spread the word and encourage everyone you know to attend.
