John,

Summer is here and it feels like connecting with friends and family is more important than ever before. But just because it's become safer to gather in groups, doesn't mean COVID-19 is over yet.

A new, more contagious strain of COVID-19 -- the Delta variant -- is rapidly spreading across our neighboring states and it's already arrived in Kansas. The good news is that the COVID-19 vaccinations have proven effective against the new strain, slowing the spread.

That's why it's never been more important that we all do our part to prevent further spread of the Delta variant by getting vaccinated as soon as possible. You can find the nearest vaccination site by checking our Vaccine Finder tool.

If you decide not to get vaccinated, please be responsible and mindful around other Kansans -- wear a mask indoors and if you feel sick, get tested. Together, we'll be able to prevent a rise in COVID-19 cases.

Have a safe and healthy summer,

Laura
