I will Donate $15 to defeat racist voter suppression
John,
Have you seen the news about voter suppression this week?
Texas Governor Greg Abbott tried to force his state legislature to pass a voter suppression bill that takes aim at many of the systems used to register and mobilize Black and brown voters in the 2020 election. In order to stop the racist attack on democracy, Democratic lawmakers literally fled the state, but Gov. Abbott is threatening to arrest these lawmakers when they return to Texas.
When Texas Democrats left the state, they flew to Washington, D.C. to ask the United States Senate to pass a bill that would provide national protections for all voters. Right now, Color of Change is running campaigns calling for Senate Democrats to pass the Voting Rights Act, a bill that would roll back racist voter suppression across the country and prevent states from passing new restrictive laws.
At Color Of Change, we don’t take donations from corporations. We depend on support from members to drive our campaigns to protect our democracy and expand voting rights in your state and across the country.
Chip in $15 to help protect your right to vote
Since the 2020 election, Republican lawmakers in 48 states have introduced voter suppression laws, which have already passed in more than a dozen states. 14 states have already passed laws that have shortened the window for absentee voting, restricted the eligibility of early voting, or made it easier for election officials to contest the results of election.
