Dear Friend,

If socialism worked, why don’t we see people fleeing from America to Cuba?

If the United States really was an oppressive society, how come migrants crossing the straits of Florida only ever head one way?

This week we saw some extraordinary scenes in Cuba. Despite attempts by the mainstream media to imply it was all about Covid or the cost of living, make no mistake; Cubans were protesting against communism.

What I felt exhilarating about the Cuba protests was the sight of the protesters waving aloft the American flag.

Here in the US, ‘woke’ athletes sometimes complain about what the Stars & Stripes symbolize. Extreme leftists have even burned the US flag.

But in Cuba, where people have experienced real oppression, people look to the American flag as a symbol of hope and freedom. They recognize that the United States represents the hope of a better world.

One day the communist dictatorship in Cuba will fall and Cubans will be free. Let’s make sure that every young American grows up appreciating just how special our Western way of life is – and that they too recognize that the US flag is the symbol of liberty around the world.

Warm Regards,

Douglas Carswell
