Dear Friend,

Our member organizations are critical partners in the Secular Coalition for America ([link removed]) 's (SCA) mission to protect and strengthen secularism at the federal level. Our advocacy work is made stronger by connecting and collaborating with those in our movement and coalition. Conferences are a perfect place for this type of collaboration, which is why SCA is proud to be a co-sponsor of American Humanist Association's 80th Annual Conference ([link removed]) from July 24-25, 2021!

Join us virtually for two days of interactive sessions, thought-provoking and inspiring speakers, and opportunities to connect with fellow humanists and exhibitors. #AHACON21 ([link removed]) will bring together humanists from across the country to explore the most pressing questions facing our community, share effective practices to create change, and celebrate 80 years of humanist thought and action and the road ahead. SCA staff members will also be attending and you can connect with us through our "virtual booth". This will be an anniversary party you won’t want to miss!

American Humanist Association (AHA) will also be awarding its Humanist of the Year award to scientist and immunologist Anthony S. Fauci, M.D ([link removed]) , who will be receiving the award during the conference. AHA Executive Director Roy Speckhardt said, β€œWe are honored that Dr. Fauci will receive our highest award at the AHA’s 80th Annual Conference. His unwavering commitment to accessible, evidence-based information and his robust communication to people about public health issues is commendable and necessary, especially in this critical time.”

Dr. Fauci has identified as a humanist and mentions that he aligns with humanist values. He has said in recent interviews: β€œI look upon myself as a humanist. I have faith in the goodness of mankind.” and β€œI’m less enamored of organized religion than I am with the principles of humanity and goodness to mankind and doing the best that you can.”
