Party Leader announces 7 tests for HM Government on Protocol

DUP Leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP has set out Seven Tests for any new arrangements the Government would announce regarding the Northern Ireland Protocol.

These tests are grounded not in a unionist wish list, but in promises that have already been made in one form or another, to the people of Northern Ireland.

Mr Donaldson was speaking during a debate in the House of Commons on the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Proposals for troubles amnesty opposed

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP: proposals for effective amnesty for Troubles related crimes unacceptable

DUP Leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP has said that proposals for an effective amnesty for Troubles related crimes are totally unacceptable and will be rejected by everyone in Northern Ireland who stands for justice and the rule of law.

Other DUP MPs also voiced their opposition following the Secretary of State’s announcement to the House of Commons.

Economy Minister Gordon Lyons met Education Secretary Gavin Williamson to discuss issues including university admissions and the importance of skills.
- Announced a new Assured Skills Academy with PWC.

Lord Dodds
called for action to address the trade imbalance as well as the societal and political instability caused by the Northern Ireland Protocol.
- Urged the Government to protect kosher food supply to Northern Ireland, threatened by the Protocol.

East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell called for financial penalties against social media companies for not tackling online abuse.
- Has written to the Speaker of the House of Commons following the actions of SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood.

East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson said the Northern Ireland Protocol is a threat to Brexit and undermines the democratic responsibilities of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

North Antrim MP Ian Paisley said there can be no proper Brexit until the Northern Ireland Protocol is resolved.

North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey condemned a sectarian graffiti attack on Rasharkin Orange Hall.

North Down MLA Stephen Dunne expressed shock at news of a murder in Bangor.
