Dear Friend,
Indoor Mask Requirement
The emergence of deadlier and highly transmissible variants of COVID-19 has increased the number of cases and deaths in LA County over the past several weeks. In order to contain the spread and impact of the virus, the County will be requiring masks to be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status beginning at 11:59pm on Saturday, July 17th. This requirement will be in place until the County sees improvements in the community transmission of COVID-19. For more information on this new indoor mask requirement, please visit the LA County Department of Public Health's website.
Wearing a mask when indoors with others reduces the risk of both getting and transmitting the virus. Another great way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 is by getting vaccinated if you haven’t already. Our vaccine supply has caught up to demand and it is easier than ever for Americans ages 12 and above to get a vaccine. Please visit Vaccines.gov to find a vaccine site near you!
Photo Contest
Voting for the 7th annual CA-27 Photo Contest is underway! For this year's contest, I asked you to send me photos showing what you're looking forward to now that vaccines are available and the economy is opening back up. From dinner with friends to playing in a pool to getting back to nature, the responses have all been so great! Make sure to follow me on Facebook at facebook.com/RepJudyChu and vote for your favorite picture. The photo with the most "likes" by 12 pm PT on July 27th will be the winner, will hang in my office in Washington, DC, and will be my new cover photo on Facebook!
Sincerely,
Judy Chu, PhD
Member of Congress
