The past year and a half have posed enormous challenges for families, and
especially working parents — many of whom have been pushed out of the
workforce due to a lack of access to child care.
The American Families Plan would play a key role in addressing this issue.
Today, low- and middle-income families spend, on average, more than seven
percent of their income on child care. By providing free universal
preschool for every child and direct support to families through
comprehensive paid family and medical leave, the American Families plan
will help families afford the basic expenses that so many in our
communities struggle to cover.

need an American Families Plan. The only way to ensure an equitable
economic recovery for all is by investing in our children and families. If
you agree, will you add your name in calling for the passage of the
American Families Plan today?

Last week, I joined Representatives Katherine Clark and Lori Trahan in
supporting the American Families Plan — we hosted the chair of the White
House Council of Economic Advisors for a tour of a day care center in
Cambridge, Massachusetts.
We heard from working parents who talked about the challenges they face in
figuring out how to manage work and school, while also providing great
child care.
Free, high quality care and better pay for caregivers will help ensure
working families don’t need to choose between contributing to their
households and providing child care.
[ [link removed] ]The American Families Plan is already popular with a majority of
Americans, but Republicans in Washington are standing in the way. Add your
name today to tell Republicans: prioritize our children and families by
passing the American Families Plan now.
Thank you,
Ayanna
