comprehensive and fully funded paid family and medical leave policy in the
next reconciliation package.
Dear Friend,
When I think of summer, I think of ice cream sandwiches! They’re the
perfect combination of your favorite flavor of ice cream sandwiched
between two chocolate wafers. But this summer, as families are struggling
to locate and afford quality child care and also provide care to their
aging parents, I’m thinking of the Sandwich Generation; those who often
have nowhere to turn when a critical illness strikes themselves or an
older family member, and also who don’t have any paid time off after a new
child arrives. They need paid family and medical leave.
The good news is, we can WIN paid leave for all this summer if we keep the
pressure on Congress to do the right thing.
[ [link removed] ]→ Demand Congress act quickly to pass fully funded comprehensive paid
family and medical leave in the reconciliation package so that working
families will finally have permanent and robust paid leave for all and our
economy can thrive.
In order to reach the finish line, we must urge our members of Congress to
do the right thing and help American families. There’s no time to waste.
Right now, members are on Capitol Hill, outlining a $3.5 trillion deal
that would affect millions of families ---- like yours! They need to hear
from you! Let’s make sure our elected officials know that we need robust
funding for permanent and comprehensive paid family and medical leave.
It’s vital for our families and future generations, as well as our
national economy.
NO ONE, not you, me, or our loved ones should have to make the choice
between earning a paycheck and caring for an aging parent when a critical
health crisis strikes or welcoming a new child. Care is essential and we
need to make sure we are holding our elected officials accountable by
asking them to fund paid family and medical leave in the next care
infrastructure package.
Passing a permanent, comprehensive paid family and medical leave policy is
imperative so that workers and families can heal, rest and recover and
care for their families during times of critical crisis, or to care for a
new child, without choosing between work and family.
Do you know what’s an economic necessity? Paid family and medical leave!
Time and time again caregiving families encounter financial strain and
hardship due to caregiving responsibilities -- and through it all no one
should be pushed off a family fiscal cliff simply because a critical
illness strikes or a new child arrives. Enacting a permanent and
comprehensive paid family and medical leave policy is vital for their
well-being. Paid family and medical leave will help improve the lives of
working families as well as ensure our economy and businesses prosper.

fully funded paid family and medical leave in the reconciliation package.

A great deal is at stake. Right now, eight out of 10 workers do not have
access to paid leave through their employers. [2] That means that
millions of working Americans still need access to paid family and medical
leave AND deserve to take leave when a critical health crisis strikes
themselves or loved ones.
We’re on the cusp of changing history, let’s get paid family and medical
leave passed!
