John, A handful of global corporations have taken control of the internet, the dominant medium of all modern communication and commerce. They have used that control to create and sell databases of personal information of all Americans and to promote unprecedented amplification of dangerous disinformation and violence. This has created a grave threat to our democracy and our people. Now, Congress is taking steps to hold Big Tech accountable. The House Judiciary Committee just advanced a series of bills intended to constrain the monopolistic powers of Big Tech companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Apple. If signed into law, these bills will help bring choice and control back to the consumer and stop the oversized influence these companies have on our economy, our politics, and our daily lives. That said, lobbyists for Big Tech are right now descending on Washington in droves to stop these bills from going any further, prioritizing profit over our lives and our democracy. Sign the petition: Congress must strengthen our antitrust laws and hold Big Tech companies accountable. It's far past time to pass legislation that curtails the power of Big Tech – but that won’t happen without overwhelming grassroots support. We need your help to reclaim our democracy and combat disinformation in the fight for choice and consumer protections. Big Tech has dictated our lives for far too long, dividing communities and promoting the voices of extremists like QAnon. Tell Congress: Hold Big Tech accountable.
