The U.S. declared China’s actions in Xinjiang a “genocide” earlier this year and enacted the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020 a year ago to authorize sanctions along the lines of what the Senate bill would impose.

Restoring Cubans' Internet

The Communist Party of Cuba moved quickly to cut off the public’s access to the Internet and social media platforms that protesters were using to communicate amongst themselves and with the rest of the world. That has prompted calls for the U.S. government and American telecommunications companies to restore Internet access to the Cuban people.

In remarks at a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Joe Biden was asked about the possibility and answered:

"We are considering whether we have the technological ability to reinstate that access."

Should the U.S. try to provide Internet access to the Cuban people when their government shuts it down?
