Extend the Child Tax Credit to Fight Child Poverty

The first expanded Child Tax Credit is going out to American families today — and these payments are projected to cut child poverty in half. Helping Long Island families is my top priority in Congress, so I was immensely proud to vote for the American Rescue Plan of 2021, which included the revolutionary expansion of the Child Tax Credit. But one year of additional support for families isn’t enough — that’s why we must pass the American Families Plan to extend the expanded and improved Child Tax Credit.
