Friend,

Nearly 60 Democratic members of the Texas House left the Lone Star State, breaking quorum to avoid a vote on Republicans’ controversial election integrity bill. The dramatically-reported exodus to Washington, D.C.— complete with photos of private jets and calls for arrest by Governor Abbott — is reportedly still costing taxpayers while legislation is stalled. Texas House Rep. Jared Patterson estimates that the walkout is costing taxpayers at least $43,000 for each day the legislature is at a standstill.

We're exploring some of the Texas Democrats' options for funding their trip to Washington, and what those choices might mean for their campaign accounts and upcoming elections. Read it here.

Sincerely,

The Transparency USA Team
