Team -- did you see this?
The Supreme Court has given states more power to impose harsher restrictions on voting, making it harder for Americans to cast their vote.
This is yet another disastrous blow to the Voting Rights Act. At every turn, the Court has chosen to undermine the right for Americans to vote freely and without discrimination or fear.
This is where you can help. Add your name to show you support the right for every American to exercise their right to vote.
Not only has this decision upheld the devastating laws that consistently disenfranchise minority voters, but it made it even more difficult to challenge these laws in the future. That ultimately strips voters of one of their last remaining options to fight against voter discrimination.
In Congress, I’ve led the fight to expand and protect voting rights in honor of my dear friend and former colleague, the late Rep. John Lewis. In continuing his legacy, I’ve spearheaded the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and supported the For the People Act to enact voting reforms and ensure free and fair elections.
The Supreme Court’s decision is a major setback for our fight. It should not be this easy for anti-voter states to make it harder for people to vote. If you agree, sign on to show your support for comprehensive, inclusive voting rights that will protect the sacred right to vote for every American.
Thank you,
Terri
