***A REMINDER - I WILL BE LIVE STREAMING MY REAL-TIME DEBATE RESPONSES ON MY FACEBOOK AND TWITTER TONIGHT, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, AT 8:00 PM EASTERN***
Yesterday was day 2 of my walk across the Granite State — walking in the shoes of New Hampshirites.
My walk began in the morning from the Civil War soldiers monument in Keene, New Hampshire. Recently, a George Mason University professor wrote that our nation is more divided now than anytime since that Civil War. I believe what is deeply needed today is a candidate who can not just win, but can also unite Americans... All Americans.
I emphasize all because some Americans are often forgotten, like those who are incarcerated. For years as a Congressman on veterans day I would visit veterans in prison. Along my walk, I was fortunate enough to be invited inside the Cheshire County department of corrections, where I met with veterans and the greater population. Superintendent Van Wickler is doing some tremendous work there creating a progressive prison.
You can watch the WMUR (local ABC affiliate) report about my visit here. WMUR also did a broader piece on my walk across the Granite State (here).
Next, I stopped at the Bitcoin Embassy and a neighboring Mosque on route 101. I followed route 101 into Dublin where I finished my walk for the evening. No slacking - the events for the day were not yet done.
I hopped into a truck, driven by an organic farmer, and continued my way to a VFW auxiliary meeting to talk with those who have the hardest jobs in America, military spouses. Then, I drove an hour further to Somersworth to speak with local Democrats at the Teatotaller cafe.
I’m now kicking off day 3, where I’ll be traveling from Dublin to Peterborough. Here’s my schedule for the day:
