Jack, Amazon’s 1984-esque work environment is putting its workers in harm's way. Can you join us in demanding Congress act to end Amazon's harmful and controlling surveillance systems?

Amazon created a punishing surveillance system to increase the speed of its workers. While Amazon claims they use the system only to "monitor workflow," in reality they use this mass surveillance to control workers’ movements down to the second, even determining when or if a worker can use the restroom. Amazon also uses this surveillance system to squash union organizing.

Congress must ban this surveillance method and hold a hearing to investigate Amazon’s harmful, dangerous workplace surveillance practices.

Amazon’s use of surveillance leads to the abuse, injury, and exploitation of workers.

Amazon engineered a punishing system to increase workers’ speed and control their physical movements in increments of seconds, even going so far as to determine if there is enough time for an employee to use the bathroom.

This surveillance system leads to worker injuries at rates nearly double industry average, with more than 24,000 serious injuries in warehouses last year. Moreover, Amazon has repeatedly used this data to retaliate against workers who speak out and organize—particularly Black workers who spoke out to protect their colleagues and communities during the pandemic.

Lawmakers need to ban surveillance practices of the sort used by Amazon and other employers.
