There is no such thing as an off-year — and last month, WFP faced our biggest electoral test in 2021 yet in communities all across New York state.

The results are in: and Working Families Party candidates — and our ideas — are winning. India Walton defeated an incumbent mayor in a historic primary victory.

Brad Lander and Jumaane Williams mobilized a broad, multicultural coalition of working people to win citywide races for NYC Comptroller and Public Advocate. And fourteen WFP candidates, including at least eleven women of color, won seats on the NYC City Council — making it the most progressive and diverse council in NYC history.

India Walton defeated an incumbent mayors in Buffalo. India could be the first socialist mayor of a major city in 60 years.

Our victories in New York State are just the tip of the iceberg. WFP champions have been victorious in places including St. Louis, Albuquerque, and Philadelphia.
