The international women's rights movement is increasingly divided over whether "women" includes biological men and whether prostitution is just another form of work. As the UN's women's agency looks for a new leader, a coalition of feminist groups calling for decriminalization of prostitution and inclusion of individuals who identify as transgender are seeking to steer UN Women's future direction. Lisa Correnti reports [[link removed]].

Meanwhile, on World Population Day, demographers are sounding the alarm that fertility rates already steeply in decline are falling even further due to the pandemic. Experts have different opinions about whether the pandemics effect is just a "blip" or here to stay, but it wouldn't be a high-level UN meeting without calling for "reproductive health services" to be regarded as essential.
