We are up against some of the most powerful companies in the world who have the resources to wage a war behind-the-scenes. Grassroots supporters like you keep us in this fight.

John,

We know that the fight to combat climate change has been an uphill battle. The rich and powerful who stand to lose from pro-environment policies have been waging a shadow war against our movement.

But don’t take our word for it, they can tell you themselves.

An ExxonMobil lobbyist was recorded admitting that the company has worked to sabotage climate legislation even while it publicly says it wants to advance climate solutions.

Most of us already know the long history of Exxon working with the American Petroleum Institute and others to sew doubt about climate science and thwart progress to address the problem, but this lobbyist’s admissions reveal that the company is still activity sabotaging real climate work — including our present efforts to pass critical climate policies in the American Jobs Plan.

We are up against some of the most powerful companies in the world who have the resources to wage a war behind-the-scenes. Grassroots supporters like you keep us in this fight. We know the fossil fuel lobby will target its resources at our climate champions. Will you pitch in today to support our members and fight back against wealthy fossil fuel interests?

This lobbyist gave us insight into the inner workings of the efforts to curb pro-environment policies in his own words:
  • “Did we aggressively fight against some of the science? Yes.”
  • “Did we join some of these ‘shadow groups’ to work against some of the [climate change] early efforts? Yes, that’s true.”
  • “The bottom line is it’s going to take political courage, political will in order to get something done. And that just doesn’t exist in politics. It just doesn’t.”

Companies like Exxon are counting on people being afraid to stand up, but SEEC members are standing up to fight for an end to the fossil fuel subsidies that support Exxon and a transition to a clean energy economy.

And companies like Exxon are counting on their resources to outweigh the power of our movement, but you can help us match them. Will you rush a donation today so we can go toe-to-toe with the most powerful companies in the world?

Thanks for your support,

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
