Today the expanded Child Tax Credit will start hitting parents’ bank accounts. The child tax credit will send $300 per month for every kid directly to families across the Valley. It’ll bring much needed help to more than 90% of families in our community and millions across the country, and taking a major step to reduce child poverty by over 40%.

It’s a huge deal, especially in underserved communities like mine. One mother I spoke to here in Tracy told me, “This is going to change our whole lives.”

I’m proud to have provided a critical vote to pass the stimulus package that made this all possible. Will you please chip in $15 so we can keep the House and continue to make even more progress for our communities?

Melinda, her husband and four kids were living in a tent for two months after losing their home in a fire. Their credit card debt had racked up and they were never going to get out from under it. But thanks to the stimulus checks and now the expanded Child Tax Credit, Melinda and her kids are able to start a whole new life.

But this can only be the beginning. After a year of almost unimaginable challenges, there is so much work ahead of us and we can’t afford to go back. We have to keep pushing forward.
