Starting today, millions of parents in Ohio and across the country will start receiving monthly payments of up to $300 per child thanks to the expanded Child Tax Credit we passed in the American Rescue Plan.

This is something I've been fighting for years -- it's what we mean when we talk about fighting for the Dignity of Work. Because raising a child is real work, and it should be treated that way.

But there’s a problem: The Child Tax Credit is only good for the rest of the year. I’m working to make it permanent, but I need your help. Will you sign on your support for my efforts in the Senate?

For too long, hard work has not paid off for too many Americans the way it should.

Wages have remained stagnant for decades, while the cost of raising a family is up. And instead of rewarding work, Mitch McConnell and Washington Republicans have handed out tax break after tax break to those at the very top. The Child Tax Credit finally puts money in the pockets of everyone else.

But Mitch McConnell has reminded us time and again that he did not vote for the American Rescue Plan and the CTC. Not a single Republican voted for the American Rescue Plan. That’s right, they all voted against putting money in American families’ pockets.

It’s clear where McConnell and Washington Republicans’ priorities lie -- and it’s not with working families.
