Hey friend --

The Arizona GOP wants to make it harder for people of color to vote. And the Supreme Court gave them the go ahead to do so.

We’re not exaggerating here -- on July 1, the Supreme Court further gutted the already stripped down Voting Rights Act of 1965 [[link removed]], making it harder for Black and Brown communities to vote. (Reminder: SCOTUS already dealt devastating blows to the VRA in 2013.)

The decision reached earlier this month in Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee overturns a number of key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, and allows the anti-voter bills that have passed across the country to stand:

This ruling hurts Arizonans and sets a dangerous precedent for state legislatures across the country to continue their attack on voting rights. Just this week, Texas Democrats bravely left the state in order to prevent the Texas GOP from forcing through a dangerous anti-voter bill in a special session -- and other Republican-controlled state houses are looking at similarly restrictive bills. One thing is clear: we all need to work together to ensure that our democracy is truly equitable and available to all.

We need to make sure every single American has the opportunity to exercise their fundamental right to vote. So -- here are some quick but powerful ways you can fight for all American voices to be heard:

→ Use this voting rights toolkit to uplift disenfranchised communities and meet the moment:

→ Send a message to your representatives telling them to pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and D.C. statehood -- and ensure that the filibuster doesn’t prevent necessary legislative efforts to strengthen our democracy:

→ Call your senator at (202) 224-3121 and demand they stand up against the filibuster. It’s time for this Jim Crow relic to go.

We won’t stop fighting for an equitable democracy for all. Thanks for being alongside us as we do.

In solidarity --
