Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week - Alev Kelter

Eagle River's Alev Kelter powered Team USA to a gold medal with three straight strong scoring games on the final day of a World Rugby Sevens series tournament. The 28-year-old playmaker tallied 27 of the team's 74 total points in Team USA's wins over Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Kelter now has 30 tournament appearances, most in USA Women's rugby sevens history.
The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected each Friday with the winner announced every Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports 590AM and 96.7FM.  See past winners here

His rookie contract probably looks like a bargain as the 6-foot-8 sharpshooter ranks sixth in the Swiss Basketball League in scoring and has Pully Lausanne atop the standings with a 3-0 record.

Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River showed no ill effects of a toe injury that sidelined her all summer as she poured in a 20/20 double-double in the season opener in Australia.
The reigning WNBL MVP pumped in 22 points and 20 rebounds to lift the Canberra Capitals to a 90-83 win over the Adelaide Lightning.

Anchorage's Daniel Haider helped Army West Point do something on the ice that the Black Knights hockey team hadn't done since 1989.
Haider scored the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over Connecticut to give Army back-to-back wins against non-conference opponents to start a season for the first time in 30 years.

Anchorage's Isaiah Saville was just as good as advertised in his debut in goal for the University of Nebraska Omaha.
The freshman goaltender turned aside 14 of 15 shots and carried a shutout into the third period in a 6-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville in NCAA hockey action.

Kenai's Maxwell Dye of Marian University tied for the third-lowest round after the first two days of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship in Irish Haven, Wisconsin.
The junior golfer fired a 77 and 82 for a 36-hole total of 159 to put him 10th out of 53 men's golfers halfway through the NCAA D3 tournament.

Maggie Zanazzo of Fairbanks delivered her first double-double in grand fashion for the Porterville College volleyball team.
The sophomore setter recorded a career-high in both assists (51) and digs (15) to lead the Pirates to a four-set win over West Hills-Lemoore in the California Community College Athletic Association.

The University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior forward racked up two goals and three assists as the River Hawks swept Alabama-Huntsville by a combined 8-2 score.

Clark extended its 58-game unbeaten streak against division rivals dating to 2014 after beating up on Chemeketa 9-1 in Salem, Oregon.
