* We announced that we are recruiting two new Program Officers, in South Asian air quality and global aid advocacy, and Research Fellows and Strategy Fellows . * Tom Davidson assessed whether AI could drive significantly faster global economic growth this century compared to historic standards. ([link removed])
* We announced that Open Philanthropy co-founder Alexander Berger has been promoted to co-CEO. Alexander will continue to oversee our work on Global Health and Wellbeing. ([link removed])

* We compared our progress with the goals we set forth a year ago, noting a high level of grantmaking and the completion of a number of reports relevant to our worldview investigations function. * As reported by Reuters, the European Commission recently announced that it will propose legislation to phase out the use of cages for farmed animals. The announcement came after the End the Cage Age European Citizens’ Initiative, led by our grantee Compassion in World Farming, gathered over 1.4 million signatures in favor of cage-free legislation. * PBS NewsHour profiled Mireille Kamariza, who is working on a potential breakthrough diagnostic tool to fight tuberculosis. Kamariza is CEO of OliLux Biosciences, which recently received an investment from Open Philanthropy. ([link removed]) ([link removed])
* The New York Times highlighted work by Open Philanthropy grantee Pardis Sabeti, who worked with Colorado Mesa University in her role at the Broad Institute to develop a system for pandemic management.
