According to an upcoming book by Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, Liz Cheney smacked Jim Jordan’s hand during the January 6th capitol riot and told him off.
Cheney explained her interaction with Jordan during the attack when rioters had breached the Capitol and members of Congress were trying to get to safety. He offered to help Cheney and she smacked is hand away, telling Jordan:
“Get away from me. You f*cking did this.”
No one has done more to enable Trump and his Big Lie than Jim Jordan. He repeatedly pushed the talking point that the election was stolen both before and after election day. He posted about it on social media and spoke at a Stop the Steal rally. In December, Jordan even said “I don’t know how you can ever convince me that President Trump didn’t actually win this thing.”
He led the charge of 147 Congressional Republicans in voting to overturn the election results. And one week after the Capitol riot, Jim lied to cover up his involvement, claiming “I’ve never said the election was stolen.”
Our country is in the midst of extreme political unrest and uncertainty that we have not seen since the civil war. The American people are losing faith in our Democratic institutions, and we need to get to work now to restore their confidence in Congress.
